Benjamin Shock is a multi record producer/mixing engineer/DJ that grew up in the Slovenian coastal area involved mostly in electronic/dance & hip hop scene.
In 1998 he started hanging out at the local radio station where he got introduced to a lot of different music genre and found interest and inspiration, gaining knowledge and experience listening to them and studying them carefully, while creating his own style in the producing and mixing department.
Fast forward one year Benjamin allready started playing on turntables where he discovered the real passion and talent for mixing. His next step was to play house and techno music on a weekly radio show. It didn't take him that long to start composing his own tunes and producing his own label songs. His first house record track ''Get Down'' was released on vinyl and digitally imported by the German house label Discogalaxy.
After teaming up with his well known friend Gramatik they started creating hip hop and various house grooves... They formed up a duo project under the name “Fatnatikz”, which was based on electro / funk / house music.
In december 2014 he released a single ''Feel Da Phunk'' on Gramatik label Lowtemp music that had a lot of attention on the scene, premiered & supported by EDM.com.
The song was also released in a Lowtemporary Vol.1 compilation supported by Bittorrent where they had more then a million downloads in one week only. Benjamin continued to release various singles throughout Gramatik's Lowtemp music. During the Burn Residency DJ contest, Benjamin Shock reached the third place in the battle, and was recognized for a incredible performance.
He's style of music involves almost all the sub genres of house from deep house, soulful, jackin, tech-house, electro, disco, lounge...''It's really hard for me to play or produce only one specific style of dance music. I like to keep my sets dynamic as well as in the studio. It all depends on the a vibe and the crowd on the dancefloor.'' Some of his work can be found on record labels like King Street Sounds, Lowtemp music, Guesthouse music, Neptuun city, Colorecordings, Flapjack and 1st rate music.
While he established reputation on Slovenian hip hop scene as a beatmaker and a well known producer, mixing & mastering engineer he got the opportunity to produce several hip hop albums and songs for some of the major Slovenian underground hip hop artists, such as Drill, 5. Element....
His releases are often seen on top 100 charts on Traxsource, Beatport, Juno and other worldwide charts. The ''Hands Up'', released on Neptuun City was also supported by Umek in ''Behind the Iron Curtain'' radio show which was a good recognition for his further work.
He also remixed an old school house track from the Paris Mitchell Project feat. Waxmaster, “Ghetto Shout Out”, which was originally played by Daft Punk on the BBC radio 1 essential mix in 1997. The Benjamin Shock's remix ended up at 35th place on the Beatport top 100 electro house chart. Another great remix was a classic, from Brandon Plank vs House Master Boyz “House Nation”.
Both of his releases ended up in the Traxsource's top 10 chart, a deep house track in collaboration with Yan named “Choices” from the Groove Foundation EP released on King Street Sounds and the remix he made for Cevin Fisher, “You Changed My life”. Traxsource also ended up giving him recognition as a top 100 selling record of 2012 in the Jackin’ House category for the song “Midnight mission”, released on on Guesthouse music.
With a string of high profile releases scheduled for 2018 Benjamin Shock continues to show the world that his next decade in music will be even better than the first!
